Tips for Entertaining

I am always on the hunt for new content and inspiration to share. Magazines, blogs and Pinterest are my best friends when it comes to this. Sometimes I am looking for something specific while others I just stumble upon something that speaks to me. This post is a culmination of both those things. I was searching for entertaining tips and inspiration for my next dinner party and came across the charming blog, A blog named Scout and found the perfect party inspiration.
I have paired this with a few of my entertaining tips. Let me know what rules you stick to when entertaining friends, I would love to know!

Entertaining Tips
1. Clean ahead of time: While this may seem obvious I often find myself in a mad rush before guests arrive and inevitably the kitchen is neglected. In my opinion it is always best (when possible) to prepare as much as you can ahead of time and clean as you go along so the sink is not overflowing as the guests arrive.

2. Be Ready: This tip applies to the above. While you may not have time to finish everything in terms of the cooking be sure to have your candles lit, music playing and drinks and appetisers ready as the guests come through the door.

3. Lighting and candles: Lighting plays a very important role in setting the mood. There should be several light sources and where possible set on dimmers so that light is distributed casting a soft ambient glow. Candles always add something cozy in my opinion. I suggest scented candles in the bathroom and living area and unscented in the dining room so as not to interfer with the smell of the food.

4. Flowers: Flower arrangements in any size or style add something to a party. Change up your florals to reflect the theme of the party.
