Summer is in full swing and while in Barbados we are lucky enough to enjoy the warm weather year round, I know many of my international friends and followers are welcoming the change in temperature. While I am very grateful for my year long summer, I do miss the fun of changing up fashion for the seasons. I have curated some of my favourite summer styles and tips from a few of my best fashion resources. I would love to hear what trends you are loving and if you have tried any.

Furnishing a home is a daunting task to say the least but there are a few key pieces which are both versatile and timeless. These staple pieces are a good starting point when it comes to furnishing your home. I always refer to the staple pieces and how important they are in a room and this list combined by Domaine Home perfectly outlines this. Some of the pieces such as the gilt mirror or farmhouse table were a bit unexpected at first but when mixed with other key pieces such as a structured white sofa or natural fibre rug, they make perfect sense. See the versatile furniture pieces below as well as some of my designer tips on how to incorporate them into your space.
A white structured sofa either upholstered or slip covered is a key piece for any living space and perhaps the most versatile of them all. A white sofa can work with almost any design style whether it's contemporary, rustic or traditional. Smaller pieces such as throw cushions, blankets or side tables can be switched out to change the look as desired.

Summer is here and I'm dreaming of garden parties and relaxing at the beach house. One of my favourite sites - Eat-Drink-Love has some amazing beverage recipes and I'm dying to try the sparkling strawberry lemonade. What I love about the recipe apart from it being pretty and refreshing is how quick and easy it is ( prep time is 20 mins!) . See more summer cocktail and drink recipes on Eat Drink Love.

Sunglasses are such an important part of any look and I personally would be lost without mine as my eyes are quite sensitive and Barbados is super bright and sunny all year round. I talked sunglass trends this weekend with my friend from Sun Collection in Limegrove and it seems certain trends such as cat eye or aviators are maintaining consistency over the past couple years while a newer trend has emerged - the mirrored lens! I personally have had my eyes on a pair of mirrored Ray Bans for over a year and got a pair for my birthday. My wayfarers are still my go to pair but the green mirrored lens is something fun for summer. See below some street style sunglass snaps and a few of my faves from Sun Collection.

As mentioned before I will be moving in a few weeks and I am looking forward to living in a bigger place with great outdoor space, open plan living and a second bedroom where I will set up my office. I have been busy making moodboards and pinning away searching for home inspiration. Below is some of the inspiration for my new home; The Cottage. Each room has elements which I love and the spaces have given me numerous decorating ideas. See some of my designer tips to incorporate from each room below.
The Cottage has a beautiful outdoor space with a lush garden and large breadfruit tree. Luckily for me there is a large covered porch where I have set up a second "living room". When decorating an outdoor space be mindful when choosing furniture or fabrics. Be sure to choose water resitant fabric such as Sunbrella and make sure your furniture will hold up to the weather.

I've been talking about weddings a lot recently but have never blogged about bridal showers. I have noticed in the past couple of years that there has been a departure from traditional bridal showers and people have really been stepping up their games when it comes to creativity. I came across this concept while reading one of my favourite sites Style Me Pretty and thought it was fabulous. This specific idea of a boudoir bridal shower was created by Je T’aime Beauty. Essentially it is a cocktail party/ dress up session for grown ups including a fun photo shoot. Personally having photos taken of myself doesn't sound like a fun afternoon but getting dolled up, sipping on champagne cocktails, indulging in sweet treats with girlfriends and sharing in the awkard-ness of having your photo taken sounds surprisingly fun and I'm sure the end result would be lots of laughter. See more of this Boudoir Bridal Shower on Style Me Pretty.

I am super excited to be moving soon. I have been looking for a new place for months and finally found the most perfect cottage in a great location. The place has come semi furnished with a few good staple pieces but they need a little love so I have been working on re upholstering and painting. I am torn in terms of the colour scheme for the living room so have been pulling inspiration from Pinterest and working on mood boards. The below image includes a neutral sofa which I already have that I am using as a base for the room. I love the colour combo of navy, beige and white and thought introducing navy with throw cushions or rug would be a cost effective option which I could change out in time. Let me know what you think and stay tuned for my second option and accompanying mood board.
