Life as I know it : Thankful

The past week was a difficult one as I was not doing well, for those of you that are close to me know my social media is a good reflection of how my life is going. No tweets - not good! Since today is my first day back blogging after a weeks break and the beginning of a new month, I decided to share some things I am thankful for and what makes me happy. This Life as I Know it post made me  take the time to look through my photos, pulling some to illustrate just some of the things I am grateful for, this alone was a positive way to start July off. Thanks for all of your support with the blog over the years and stay tuned this week for some beautiful posts and don't forget I love your comments and feedback! Xo

Club Monaco Home

I have a weakness for a well designed retail store and the interiors of Club Monaco stores hold massive appeal to me. The combination of sophisticated taste, clean lines and rustic accents works so well in their spaces. Over the past couple of months the interiors of the stores have been getting a lot of attention with customers taking to social media sharing the re-decorated interiors of the stores. After countless queries about the interior designer responsible for the stunning interiors, Club Monaco has decided to give customers what they want - home decor. This summer, Club Monaco is testing appetites for all things home with a seasonal trove at their Hamptons store. The pieces range from newly manufactured goods to antiques and world market treasures. See the whole story on Elle Decor

Fruit Infused water

In an attempt to get more healthy I have been incorporating some of these "recipes" to my everyday water routine. We all know we should drink more water, for some this is easier than others. I am someone who drinks water about 90 percent of the time foregoing soft drinks and juices for fruit infused creations. I have a pink Nalgene bottle of water with me at all times when I leave the house. Whether I'm in the car, at work or on the beach my bottle is close by. Voss glass water bottles are also a good alternative. In the past couple years I started adding lemon and at times cucumber to the water for a bit more variety. Now thanks to all the inspiration and information about detox water on Pinterest and other blogs I have started to incorporate some of the below recipes. These alternatives do not only add interest and look pretty but have good detox qualities as well. Below are a few of my favourites.

Mint and Lemon Water
This quick detox water is one of my morning go to's. First I clean the mint, then cut the lemons into slices and fill a pitcher with water and ice. If I have time the night before I will do it before I go to bed - it's even better when it has time to settle. Mint and Lemon water is both refreshing and good for fat burning! Image

Olivia Palermo Summer Style

American socialite Olivia Palermo has become one of the most sought after authorities on fashion and is a celebrity in her own right. After first seeing her on the reality show, "The City" with Whitney Port she has been on my radar. Her outfits are a combination of chic, classic style with trendy of the moment pieces. This summer Olivia has been seen out in some majorly chic summer ensembles which I have used as guidance for a few style tips.

Add sophistication to your shorts by pairing them with a conservative white top and blazer suitable for evening. Add interest and a bit of glam with a belt or chunky bracelet.

Small Space Bungalow

This small space bungalow designed by Chris Barrett is thoughtfully decorated maximizing its small square footage. I always appreciate an interior that makes good use of limited space and what this bungalow lacks in size it definitely makes up for in character. I love the exposed beams, hardwood floors and mix of traditional furniture with more casual pieces. See the whole story on Domaine and see more of Chris' portfolio here

Life as I know it

I am excited to share that I will be introducing a new series to the blog called "Life as I know it". My goal is to incorporate more original content to the blog and allow you all to see a bit more of me. In the past few weeks I took you all behind the scenes of my MAC Makeup makeover with makeup artist Kia Foster Blades, shared snaps from recent events such as Louis Vuitton, Burberry and Always Summer Mothers Day celebrations and took you along on my tour of The Soco Hotel. With the Life as I know it series you can expect more of these types of things as well as my Barbados adventures, street style snaps and cooking endevours. Today I'm sharing with you some of my favourite photos from a recent photo shoot with Diana Lewis.

Bedrooms with Stunning Ocean Views

I have to admit I have been stuck in a bit of a blogging rut. My goal with LDB is to share with you all what I love and recently I have been lacking inspiration and direction. I took to Pinterest last night in search of something that spoke to me and came across an article on Coastal Living showcasing bedrooms with stunning ocean views. There is nothing better than living beach side and I couldn't think of a better view to wake up to than one of the ocean. These bedrooms in Malibu, Laguna Beach and Martha's vineyard have different design styles from classic to contemporary but share one thing in common - the stunning ocean view!

I love this Laguna Beach guest room with warm, neutral tones that are echoed in the simple rounded headboard and rattan dressers. These pieces complement the room’s ornate details, such as the antique mirrors and crystal chandeliers, which reflect light from the breathtaking view just outside.

Beach Wedding

Summer is here and so is wedding season! I have a weakness for weddings and have been planning my own from the time I was a child before there any possibility of one being on the horizon. I was always torn between a garden wedding and a beach wedding so I planned both. Below are some stunning beach weddings which serve as inspiration for me. I love the casual element of being on a beach with simple accessories and decor to make it special. The dining table is a perfect example - the rustic table paired with contemporary white chairs and a beautiful runner filled with candles and blooms is both stunning and simple!

How to dress up your jeans for work

Jeans used to be a big fashion faux paus for the office now certain work places have deemed them acceptable. However there are a few rules to follow when wearing your jeans to the office. Who What Wear Daily shared some of their tips on how to dress up your jeans for work and now I am personalizing it a bit with a few of mine. When wearing something as casual as jeans it is important that this is balanced with more structured and formal elements. Blazers and oxford shirts instantly add sophistication, include a high quality bag, classic flat or pointed toe stilleto to further elevate the look. Miranda Kerr pairs her River Island jeans with bright pointed toe heels and an embellished blazer.

Foodie Friday: Summer Salads

My appreciation and love for food has slowly grown over the years and I think it's safe to say I am becoming a foodie. The endless food blogs out there only further enhance this passion and I get excited when I come across recipes online, at times even trying to recreate similar versions on my own. One of my favourite blogs - Camille Styles which incorporates Entertaining, Food, Life, Beauty and Style into a beautiful blog, shared some of her favourite summer salads last year. These are a few of mine.

Interiors Inspiration

I took time yesterday to relax and do something I love but rarely have time for anymore - spending time on Pinterest! Pinterest used to serve as immense inspiration when I relaunched the blog last year and I love to get lost on it searching for interior design ideas, fun recipes and fab fashion. I didn't go on looking for anything specific but instead scrolled through my news feed stopping at my favourites and then visiting their original sources. Afterwards I felt incredibly inspired and my love for design especially was renewed. This post includes some of my favourite spaces from my inspiration hunting yesterday and what I loved and what design ideas I would love to incorporate into my own space. See more by following lovedesignbos on Pinterest. Enjoy! Xo

The exterior of this home won me instantly - I love the combination of rich navy blue, oak windows and doors and white trim. The barn door is an added bonus!

The Man Cave redefined: Sophisticated Masculine Spaces

As fathers day approaches I decided to do something a little different for the Dad's who follow the blog.  In the early days of starting the blog I was incredibly flattered to see that I had a male audience and while I focus primarily on interiors, female fashion and beauty I like to include things on occasion that would also interest men such as food or gender neutral interior spaces. Today I'm sharing some of my favourite masculine spaces, I like to think of them as the man cave redefined. Spaces with strong masculine elements have always had appeal to me and I appreciate the dark tones, sophisticated finishes and thoughtful accessories.

This space includes both masculine and feminine elements and I love the balance between the wallpaper and cream linens with the leather tufted headboard and vintage Louis Vuitton trunks serving as a bedside table.
