Designer T. Keller Donovan worked magic with this Palm Beach one-bedroom apartment for his client, Kay Gilman. When I first saw this fresh space on House Beautiful I found it hard to believe that this was an apartment. The living room which is divided into two distinct seating areas is airy and flooded with natural light. The marriage of the colourful print, white contemporary furniture and vintage pieces seems effortless and pieces like the vintage breakfront adds character. Ordinarily I would disagree with such an abundance of a large scale print in such a colour but the Quadrille's Island Ikat fabric works in this space.
In my opinion this whole home is a modern take on quintessential Palm Beach style and this seating area in the living room is no exception.
In the dining area, lots of reflection — including Century Furniture's Percier mirrored buffet — expands the space. Similar to the living room a pairing of pieces from different periods and styles lends to eclectic space with Palm Beach charm.
The home office is again filled with natural light, and like the rest of the home pieces from different design styles are used. The fabric - Osborne & Little's Coquine on the daybed and chair "isn't leopard or coral, but it makes you think of both," Donovan says.
This classic yet modern etagere is a beautifully styled bar cart, the laquer trays updating the look even more.
