The SoCo Hotel: South Beach Style & Caribbean flair

I had the pleasure of visiting the new SoCo Hotel a couple weeks ago and I’ve been eager to share my experience ever since. The hotel first caught my eye when they reopened last year and I saw images of their super chic and contemporary rooms on their Facebook page, so I was naturally thrilled when Tashida Cox from Virgo Communications Inc. invited me for lunch and a tour. The décor of the hotel is certainly very unique when compared to most in Barbados thus setting it aside from the rest. Upon entering the lobby, you feel as if you have been transported to a chic hotel in South Beach, which instantly won me over. The décor was what first drew me to the hotel but the view of the South Coast and boardwalk is the true highlight of this boutique hotel.

The staff was also very welcoming and accommodating. Manager Christine Dieffenthaller greeted me in the lobby and gave me a tour of the fully occupied hotel, showing me both a SoCo Room and SoCo Deluxe Room. These 24 ultra-modern style rooms have white leather upholstered headboards and sofas, crushed bamboo veneered furniture, providing a light, fresh, modern "less is more" atmosphere and sweeping views.

The contemporary design continues in the air conditioned dining room where Executive Chef Andrew Jean serves up delectable dishes such as Watermelon Gazpacho, Fish Tacos and the Chef inspired catch of the day. The menu changes throughout the week, allowing for a wider variety of food choices. The bar is also not to be missed – the smiling Michelle greeted us with fresh blended fruit punches, which were both yummy and refreshing. The bar also serves a variety of juices, premium alcoholic beverages and soft drinks.

Overall, my visit to The SoCo Hotel was a successful one and the perfect way to end the week. It has left me dreaming of those plush beds and chic rooms and I’m trying to see how I can schedule a Staycation so I can laze in the loungers poolside with a book for a weekend. If luxury, friendly service and one of the best views in Barbados interests you, be sure to visit them online and make your booking now. This boutique hotel with South Beach style and Caribbean flair is sure to impress!
