Runway to Room

My first Runway to Room feature was so well received that I knew I had to do another one. Fashion design and Interior design are two of my favourite loves and the blog is dedicated to just that. I have been following the fashion blogs especially closely the past few weeks as fashion weeks around the world are in full swing. This Runway to Room series is inspired by 2014 fashion on runways from London, Paris and Mercedes Benz New York Fashion week where some of my favourite designers such as Marchesa, Burberry and Hermes showcased their collections.

This look from Marchesa's Ready To Wear collection which was recently shown at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is distinctly Marchesa with the colour palette, fabric choices and stunning details. The room has the same simple aesthetic with special details such as the folding screen, chic chandelier and wallpaper.

KMLM Vintage Tea Party

I posted about The Know Me Love Me Charity on the blog yesterday and briefly talked about the vintage tea party that is coming up this Friday. The Know Me Love Me Foundation aims to give needy children the chance to receive an education and have the tools to be able to do so. The charity delivers backpacks full of educationonal materials to children in Africa, Haiti and Barbados who cannot purchase them. All the proceeds from this Friday's event go towards purchasing educational materials for Barbadian school children.

I am on the decorating committee and have had a lot of fun preparing for this event, the real hard work will be Friday morning for set up! The theme is a vintage tea party and the decor will be reminiscent of this with pearls, lace, flowers, vintage tea pots and china. As for dress code it is not required that you dress up but a flowered dress, hat or lace gloves would be the perfect attire after all the invitation reads " hats and lace, that's what we'll wear, It's going to be a rather momentous affair".

Louis Vuitton 2014

My love and appreciation for fashion is rapidly growing and I have been following along Paris and New York Fashion week via blogs and instagram in absolute awe. One of my favourite collections shown at Paris Fashion week was Louis Vuitton's spring/summer line. Another favourite of mine from Louis Vuitton this year is the NN 14 bag. The NN14 is the signature of the Louis Vuitton Spring / Summer 2014 line and has been described as this seasons "it" bag on numerous fashion forums. The NN14 is this seasons update of the iconic No√® bag and Marc Jacobs has dedicated it to women who inspire him.

Seen above is the Stephen Sprouse Graffiti Signature which is embroidered in shimmering black sequins on a midnight blue monogram jacquard base.  Image via Louis Vuitton, available at Louis Vuitton at Limegrove Lifestyle Center in Barbados.

Romantic tabletop inspiration

It's not like me to be embracing holidays, first it was Christmas and now Valentines Day, ordinarily a day I do my best to ignore but I seem to have had a change of heart and welcome this as another excuse to decorate. These stunning and romantic table tops via House Beautiful serve as perfect inspiration to do just so.

Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, the founders of fashion house Marchesa, bring their red-carpet flair to this glamorous table. See more of their table top collection here.

Creative Catwalks

While images of Mercedes Benz fashion week flood my social media feeds as designers such as Monique Lhuillier, Diane Von Furstenburg and Zac Posen show their collections, my appreciation for this event continues to grow.  It goes without saying that Fashion shows are not only about the clothes anymore but the entire production. The music, lighting, special effects and set design resemble a broadway show or movie set and are nothing short of impressive. Below I have included some of the most creative catwalks from 2012 via Architectural Digest. See the whole story here.

Bedroom Bliss

The bedroom is one of my favourite spaces in the house and I appreciate it so much after a long day at work especially now that I am no longer working from home. In my opinion regardless of the style or colour scheme of a bedroom there are a few key elements that are must haves. Most importantly is the bed! Luxurious crisp bedding and plush pillows are paramount, less important but one of my favourites is an upholstered headboard. Next on the list is a bed bench and lastly a practical but pretty bedside lamp perfect for reading.

Kitchen Organization

I love organization for many reasons, most importantly it makes life easier when everything has it's own place and can be easily found. Organization options have come a long way from traditional bins and drawers and I especially love to see items such as baskets used because they are both functional and pretty. This basket beside the stove serves as a good spot to keep everyday cooking items close at hand and I plan to recreate something similar at home. See more kitchen organization ideas below and a new recipe fave of mine.
