Pantone, the authority on color, announced early in December 2013 that the shade of 2014 is Radiant Orchid, referring to it as “an enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple, and pink undertones. When it came to interiors, it took me a while to warm up to the Pantone colour of the year for 2014. Beauty however, was another story, this 2014 makeup trend had since won me over. We had already started to see the colour in different capacities on celebrities such as Scarlett Johansson, Emma Rossum and Lupita Nyong'o and I found it a refreshing change. It turns out that the color is super wearable, whether it be as nail polish, eye shadow or lipstick. Not only that but, Radiant Orchid has also proven to be quite a versatile colour, looking good on a variety of different skin tones.

The colour also had a modest presence in Spring 2014 collections showing at fashion weeks around the globe. Designers such as Naeem Khan, Prada, Peter Pilloto and Prabal Gurung used this hue in multiple shades for their runway models.
