Tilman Long Interiors

This Atlanta guest house designed by Judy Long of Tillman Long Interiors is nothing short of perfection. The colour palette is soothing and fresh, the styling is simple yet sophisticated and the architecture is clean and classic yet still has character. India Hicks Bahamian Home

As I mentioned in a previous blog post about India Hicks there is more to her than a keen eye and polished aesthetic however I must admit I was orginally drawn to her Bahamian home. India's home in the Bahamas is on a sprawling estate and the house is plantation style while the decor can best be described as colonial chic with casual white slip covered furniture, mahogany and cane furniture and lots of personal details which add character.

Tropical Living - Decorating with Palm leaves

Decorating with palm leaves is a inexpensive and very effective way to bring a little tropical decor into your home. There are various types of palm leaves and countless ways to display them - my favourite is to place them in a vase or jar informally. Palm leaves add colour, interest and a tropical element to every room.

East Hampton Casual Chic Home

It seemed like my Instagram feed this weekend was overrun by Hamptons getaways and while I have never been to the Hamptons my love affair with their lifestyle and decor started ever since I watched "Somethings gotta give" and continues to grow every time I come across a property such as this one.
This property has so many elements that make it distinctively "Hamptons" and the carefully curated collection of furniture and accessories make the home both sophisticated and comfortable at the same time.

Blue and White bliss

I am partial to blue and white interiors and love the crispness of the two colours combined. A great way to introduce some blue and white bliss to a space is ginger jars. I always associate blue and white ginger jars with sophisticated interiors. A grouping of these in different sizes and shapes is a definite show stopper and adds a little chinoiserie chic to any space.

Off to the Beach

This weekend my family and I are off to the beach house! We have one on the South East of the Island but we are staying at a friends one in a popular summer spot called Cattlewash on the East. Cattlewash is alive with activity in the summer months and it's a very casual and friendly atmosphere with people floating from house to house. I will be sure to post lots of pics on my instagram but until then I thought I would share a few "beach chic" decorating ideas.

Designer Profile : India Hicks

When I first learned of India Hicks it was the interior of her Bahamian home that caught my eye, after further research I learnt that there was far more to India Hicks than a keen eye and classic aesthetic. The third child of Lady Pamela Mountbatten and David Nightingale Hicks, a celebrated interior designer of the 1960s and 1970s there is no question where she got her class and taste from. Mother, model, author, interior designer and now designer of her own home line for HSN it's fair to say India Hicks is not only accomplished but also very busy. However perhaps one of her most appealing qualities to me is the fact that she is unfazed by her glamorous upbringing and busy schedule and manages to still focus on her family and give back to the community.

Bedroom Bliss

I usually have a schedule and prepare my posts ahead of time but today I woke up not feeling well and seeing as though I am still in bed I thought I would post about beds and bedrooms. I have posted about bedrooms numerous times before but never tire of them. Some of my favourite elements in a blissful master bedroom are

Tropical Kitchen Perfection

This tropical kitchen has been on my radar for years ever since I first saw it in Coastal Living and it has been the source of much inspiration and even the topic of two blog posts. It is then fair to say that I was very excited when I came across these images showcasing this St. Barts beauty from different angles. I love the simplicity and open plan of the kitchen, the all white tile backsplash and the exposed beams in the ceiling. The simplicity allows for the main focus to be the tropical elements such as the palm tree accents and oversized basket weave light fixtures and ofcourse - the views!
